Emma Larson, MA, LPCA

Hello! My name is Emma (she/they) and I am a Professional Counselor Associate from beautiful Portland.

I believe therapy is a deeply personal and unique journey, in which we deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported. I also believe that there is power and healing in dismantling our internal systems of oppression so we can understand our values and engage more deeply with ourselves and our communities. As a counselor, my role is to empower my clients to better understand themselves, grow their self-compassion, and explore what brings them meaning. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community, the neurodivergent community, and individuals navigating religious trauma, grief, and body image.

I take an eclectic approach to therapy that pulls from modalities like Internal Family Systems, Existential, Feminist, Relational-Cultural, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This means that I am interested in exploring how different parts of ourselves intersect and how the world around us shapes our reality, values, and relationships. At the core of my work, I strive to nurture a warm, safe, and open therapeutic bond between counselor and client where we can work together with trust. I hope our time together can also include joy, laughter, and authenticity.

I received my Master's degree in the Professional Mental Health Counseling Program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I am a lifelong Oregonian and I have lived in Portland for 10 years. When I’m not in the office, you will most likely find me on the couch knitting with a cat (or two) in my lap, catching a local drag show, or chasing down a sunbeam to relax in. Let’s connect!
